The weather has been perfect, sun shining and blue skies all day, you've just cycled/driven 100+km...you are feeling exhausted.  Just then, as you are setting up your tent in preparation for the night, you see in the corner of your eye something different. One of your new friends is standing in a red dress, wearing a beautiful wig and a pair of heels! You look around and soon realize that others are dressing up interpreting the theme of the night in their own way...Quickly you look in your bin and grab your FABULOUS outfit that you've been dying to show off for months.

There is definitely a lot more to the Bike Rally than bikes. This year’s Social & Events Committee has come up with daily themes and numerous activities aimed at generating team spirit, fun and play. Every night there is a different theme and a few events planned to continue to help make this an experience that you will not soon forget. Bringing costumes is not mandatory but likely you'll regret it if you don’t...

Day 1: Bike Rally Jersey / Pajama Night

Day Theme: Today we all wear our official 2008 Friends For Life Bike Rally jerseys and crew shirts which you will receive at Packing Day.

Evening Theme: After a long tiring day of saying good bye in Toronto, then Pickering, Ajax and Oshawa.
It's time to relax and unwind - it's Pajama Night! Wear your flannels, boxers or silk
nighties...pretty much anything goes.

Evening Activity: Starting at 4:00 PM, buses will depart every 20 minutes to take Participants to the local
YMCA for showers and swimming. The YMCA closes at 8:00 PM, so plan accordingly.

Day 2: Sponsor Jersey / VIVAAAA Las Vegas

Day Theme: This year on Day 2, we will thank our sponsors by wearing special jerseys and t-shirts acknowledging their contributions.

Evening Theme: Think Celine, Cher and Elton...think glamour and beauty! And don`t forget Elvis – it
would be remiss of us to not give him special mention. Think VIVA LAS VEGAS (baby)!

Evening Activities: Tonight, it’s the annual Bingo Night. Bring money, win prizes – and
be ready to have a fun-filled evening. All proceeds go to PWA.

Day 3: Whooah, we`re half way there, Whooah...Livin’ on a prayer!

Day Theme: Take your bike and you'll make it - I swear...Okay before we go too far with Bon Jovi and
destroy the lyrics, today marks the halfway point and our arrival in Kingston. Today is
Red Dress Day - so whoop it up! Make your mark in red for our shortest day.

Evening activities: All participants have the afternoon and evening off.

Day 4: Combat Zone

Evening Theme: Join the Village People in the Navy, become GI Jane or find a Few Good Men. Think Generals and Soldiers and Sea Men...Oh My! Although we are lovers not fighters.

Evening activities: Tonight is all about entertainment, think Canadian Idol meets So You Think You Can Dance and get ready for TEAM TALENT NIGHT!

Day 5: Glengarry is goin’ country!

Evening Theme: Think cowboy hats, chaps, flannel, and put your dancing cowboy boots because we will be square and line dancing! Yee-haw!!!

Evening activities: Beach Candle Ceremony (new!) followed by Line Dancing

After dinner on the last night of the Bike Rally, Participants will gather together and process to the nearby beach for a candlelight ceremony. Speakers will reflect on their experiences of the past week and how their lives have been or will be impacted by the Bike Rally. The sound of the water and the sight of the candles as the sun goes down will provide a very moving experience for everyone.

Once the ceremony is finished, it's time to line dance! Process back on over to the camping area for the Barn Dance! Yee Haw!

Day 6: Bike Rally Jersey / Red Ribbon Day

Day Theme: Today we again wear our official 2008 Friends For Life Bike Rally jerseys and crew shirts as we arrive in Montreal. Each participant will be given a giant red ribbon to wear. Many people write something on their ribbon about what the Friends For Life Bike Rally means to them - a name of a friend or organization, a significant date or meaningful words.

Evening Theme: Arrival in Montreal. More information will be posted soon.

A few pointers:

PARTICIPATION IS OPTIONAL: We encourage participation, but no-one will be forced to take part. However, our experience from past years has been that, by the end of the week, people who thought they would be uncomfortable regret not joining in the fun. Do whatever makes you comfortable – silly and outrageous are good but are not for everyone.

SAFETY: Ensure that you consider safety first – be careful that nothing will impede your vision, be hazardous to other riders, or interfere with the safe operation of your bike or truck.

AVAILABLE SPACE: Remember, from leis to lassos, everything must fit in your bins on Packing Day with all your camping gear and other personal belongings.

CAPTURE THE MOMENT: Check out last year's photo gallery from the web site and bring your camera to capture your own moments this year.
